How to know where to spend your next marketing dollar from data out of your time and attendance system

May 10th, 2014

It was during a recent demonstration that this opportunity to use the employee contractor management system to assist with company marketing was bought this to my attention. During a conversation and a demonstration of TimeSummit time and attendance software we were talking about the GPS points collected from employees clocking in and clocking out each day through the PocketClock app. The PocketClock app is downloaded from the app store, works on iPhone, Windows mobile and Android. Once the app is downloaded simply ask your employees or contractors to start clocking in and clocking out on each jobsite.

Of course the …

How can I collect employee clockings from very remote locations with no internet or power?

February 4th, 2014

One of the biggest advantages of the JobClock system over other employee time and attendance products is the ability for the JobClock to work on remote locations where there is no power and no Internet.

I took call from another enquiry this week which is common to many of the enquiries we receive for the JobClock system. The customer has a head office in Perth, Western Australia. the next job was on the border of Western Australia Northern Territory and South Australia. We do not get more remote in Australia than this. This job requires a real portable employee time …

JobClock Integration with Quicken Payroll

January 21st, 2014

We get asked this question a lot, this week we have been asked twice already so I thought time to put further information out on the blog.

Dale recently asked a number of questions….

1/ Does your pocket clock system integrate with the Reckon accounts 2013?

2/ what type of support after purchase do you guys offer?

3/ Is there any upgrades each year with your system to coincide or keep up with the Reckon annual upgrades?

Yes we support Reckon, it was one of the first payroll products many years ago integrated. We provide all support for Australian customers right here in Australia, …

Tracking Materials on your jobsite

January 9th, 2014

We get asked regularly about materials, up until 2013 we could not track materials, however now we not only have the ability to track materials we can report on materials also. We understand materials make up a large cost of a job, sometimes they can account for more than the labour required.

I have a friend his name is Rob. Rob has worked in the renovation industry for the past 30 years, small buildings, multiple levels, multiple buildings. Rob has even had a customer fly him to USA to complete some work as his customer was so happy with the finished product …

Stop backdating time sheets and guesstimating employee hours to meet payroll deadlines – get an electronic solution

October 3rd, 2013

When I got this inquiry more than 10 years ago I was taken aback by the pain and agony the payroll person was going through every week…..let me take you back for a moment.

I took the call and we started discussing the current process which included the need to collect time sheets before the pay period was over to give sufficient time to complete payroll before sending the information off to the bank.

The pay period was Thursday to Wednesday, due to the time it took for payroll to complete the payroll process they needed all the time sheets …

Can You Refuse To Pay An Employee/Contractor Due To Inefficiency?

August 15th, 2013

Every manager or supervisor who works in a project-based work environment, has certainly experienced the issue of inefficiency. Of course, if an employee is intentionally slacking off, then there are disciplinary measures that can take place. But inefficiency doesn’t always need to relate to work ethic. But, if someone does a job slower, therefore extending the completion date of a project, do you know if you can withhold some or all that pay cheque?

Technically, the answer to that question is no. If an individual is working their scheduled shift, and putting effort into their accomplishments, then it can be …

Can my employee or contractors clock in for each other?

December 4th, 2012

I get asked this question a lot and here is a recent answer to another customer asking the same question….

From the customer… Is there a way to stop employees/contractors from giving there card to other employees and getting them to clock on/off?

There is no physical way to stop an employee cheating the system as you have explained, we understand this does happen from time to time.

You could consider a fingerprint control process where the only way an employee could clock in and out was with a fingerprint, these portable systems for construction are 3-4 times …
